How to choose the rigth size?
Dachshunds don’t fit into “Small” or “Medium” — and honestly, that never felt right to us.
These long little guys are special, and no two sausages are built the same. That’s why we designed our fits around real dachshund bodies: Slim Sausage, Classic Sausage, and Chunky Sausage — made to celebrate every shape, stretch, and curve.
Dachshunds come in all shapes and sausages fit.
To find the best fit, grab a soft measuring tape and measure key areas to choose right fit.
Chest
Measure around the widest part of your dog’s chest, just behind the front legs.
Make sure the tape is snug but not tight.
Back Length
Measure from the base of the neck (where the collar sits) to the base of the tail.
Our capes are designed extra-long for dachshunds, so chest fit matters more than exact length.
Body Type Check
Use this to choose between fits:
• "Slim Sausage
"Best for lean minis and narrow-chested doxies with a slimmer build, this sizes is meant for 7 to 11 pound dogs.
chests measurements up to 16 inches
Back lengh 11 to 13 inches
• Classic Sausage
Best for fuller minis, tweenies, or dachshunds with a broader chest or sturdier build.
Chest measurements 18-19
Back lengh 16-18
• Standard Sausage- Will be Coming soon. We have found it really hard to find real life model of Standards Dachshunds to fit and make clothes based on them.
